About The Lakeview Hub
Our story
The Lakeview Hub was founded in 2024 to meet the community's urgent need for support services in Oshawa's Lakeview Neighbourhood. Over the last several years, the Durham Workforce Authority's (DWA) research identified several barriers preventing many in the Lakeview neighbourhood from connecting to the workforce and recommended that improved access to services in the area would provide the support needed to address these barriers.
Our dedicated team of community partners, led by the DWA and the Literacy Network of Durham Region (LiNDR), envisioned a welcoming space where residents could access employment assistance, personal development, and emotional well-being resources. Together, we strive to empower individuals and foster a sense of belonging, creating lasting change for all.

Our mission is to empower the Lakeview community by providing local, essential services that cultivate personal and collective growth. The goal is to address the functional aspects of employment and the community's broader social and emotional needs, fostering a sense of pride and respect. Our focus is on real solutions for real people, addressing their practical needs and nurturing their social and emotional well-being.

By providing employment support that helps individuals holistically connect with the labour market, we aim to meet people where they are, understand their challenges and work with them to build a stronger, more connected community. At the heart of it, the Hub is here to ensure that everyone in
the Lakeview community has the opportunity to grow, succeed, and feel proud of who they are.
